Star Wars #98 - Al Williamson art

Star Wars #98
Star Wars v1 #98, 1985 - Performing his duties at the Starship Yards of Fondor, Han Solo is unexpectedly relieved by Lando Calrissian and sent on a new mission. His new task? Transporting two bratty kids to the relative safety of Vandelhelm. This is Al Williamson's final work in the series, one of only two original stories he pencilled and inked. As usual, his drawings are intricate and precise, but the print reproduction noticeably loses some fine details. Still, Williamson delivers an impressive effort. The two-page spread of a plethora of spaceships (pages 2-30 and the alien landscape of a prisoner's planet (pages 6-7) are just two of the high points. The story's color palette seems limited, but doesn't detract from the whole. Cover by Bill Sienkiewicz. This is 7 of 7 Star Wars issues by Williamson. /// Williamson gallery
