77 Sunset Strip #01-742-209
77 Sunset Strip #01-742-209, 1962 - Following the Four Color Comics series, this oddly numbered issue precedes the regular 77 Sunset Strip series. Russ Manning handles the artistic chores on two stories. The first involves a wealthy inheritance and a plan to substitute a phony grandson. The second tale revolves around the murder of an old hermit and a grand smuggling scheme. Manning's visuals have a dependable clarity, inserting more details when needed (including the storefronts on the interior page below). He provides additional artwork on a few educational pages, but the inside front cover uses panels from the feature stories. Photo cover. This is 4 of 6 77 Sunset Strip issues by Manning. /// Manning gallery
