Catman Comics #8 |
Cat-man Comics v1 #8, 1942 - Nazi aircraft are headed to Empire City for a nighttime bombing, forcing a mandatory black out. Criminals take advantage of the darkness, prompting Volton to use his electrical powers to maintain order. Though introduced on the cover, note how his costume is colored differently from the interior story. This issue marks Joe Kubert's first professional work in comics. His opening splash (see interior page below) is solidly composed, but the majority of drawings are crude and amateurish. Thankfully, he would develop quickly and soon forge his own distinctive style. This is 1 of 2 Cat-man Comics issues by Kubert. /// key 1st appearance, 1st cover Volton / 1st start Joe Kubert
