All-American Men of War v2 #64, 1958 - Told from the perspective of an army boot, the personified objects recounts his owner's experiences among a WWII platoon. Joe Kubert treats the story seriously, drawing with his usual skillfulness. His opening splash puts the boot at the forefront of the scene, emphasizing its status as a central character. Kubert's cover replicates a panel from a completely different tale. Unfortunately, the mediocre layout and rendition fall below his usual high standards. This story was later reprinted in G.I. Combat #137. Other artists in this golden age comic include Ross Andru, Mike Esposito, George Roussos and Russ Heath. This is 30 of 46
