Detective Comics #489 |
Detective Comics v1 #489, 1980 - Foiling an attempted murder by the League of Assassins, the Batman delves into a new mystery involving a Gotham geologist. The Bronze Tiger also makes a cameo appearance. Though relegated to the back of the book,
Don Newton's illustrations far outshine the rest of his peers. His drawings are fluid and supple, indicative of his fine work from this period. Inker Dan Adkins adds the right amount of polish to Newton's pencils. This story was later reprinted in
Tales of the Batman: Don Newton #1. Other artists in this copper age comic include Irv Novick, Vince Colletta and Steve Mitchell. Cover by Ross Andru and Dick Giordano. This is 9 of 39
