| Charlton Bullseye #1 |
Charlton Bullseye v1 #1, 1975 - Printed entirely in black and white, this first issue is the publisher's first attempt at a comic fanzine. While it contains the usual news and interviews, it also has two previously unpublished stories by some notable artists. Jeff Jones illustrates a Balor the Barbarian sword-and-sorcery tale, complete with damsel and giant spiders. The art is primitive, yet distinctive, possibly executed in the late 1960s-early 1970s. A second feature heralds the return of Captain Atom after an eight-year absence from comics. His co-creator, Steve Ditko, takes the artistic reins once more. Sadly, his drawings translate poorly to black and white (unlike Jones). John Byrne's inks add little to the final result, but he fares a tad better with his Rog info page. This issue also includes artwork by Tom Sutton. Cover by Al Milgrom. This is 1 of 4 Charlton Bullseye issues by Byrne, 1 of 2 Charlton Bullseye issues by Ditko and 1 of 1 Charlton Bullseye issues by Jones. /// key 1st issue- - - - - - - - - -
