True Love Pictorial v1 #7, 1953 - When she discovers her sister is marrying a man for his money, Emily struggles whether she should let him know or not. Matt Baker tells a tale of two sisters, one good and the other conniving. The artist renders these characters and their interactions beautifully. Most of the pages are exquisitely designed, all contributing to the storytelling whole. His supple brushwork appears in each panel and his figure drawings are impeccable. The opening scene is exemplary, capturing the main character’s anguish at a wedding ceremony. Baker’s related cover is adequate but seems tame by comparison. Other artists in this golden age romance comic include Ric Estrada. This is 6 of 10 True Love Pictorial issues by Baker.
