Weird War Tales v1 #100, 1981 - Joe Kubert's passable cover for this one hundredth issue features the Creature Commandos. Inside, the artist opens with an exceptional splash of a skeletal soldier. Although his only page in the book, Kubert's effort outperforms everything else. The composition, draftsmanship and detail demonstrate his skills honed over decades of experience. Not only does the scythe call attention to the numerals in the background, but serve to frame the central character. This issue also includes artwork by Bob Hall, Jerry Ordway, Trevor von Eeden, Bret Breeding and Vicente Catan.
