Batman #367 - Don Newton art

Batman v1 #367, 1984 - Humanoid-like plants amble around Gotham, finally converging at the unassuming sanctuary of Poison Ivy. Don Newton's pencils generally wilt under Alfredo Alcala's heavy-handed inks. With the exception of the interior page shown below, Newton's style is mostly absent. Even his opening splash lacks the excitement and enthusiasm of other works from the same period. On a positive note, Newton introduces a new Robin costume for Jason Todd. Other artists in this issue include Ed Hannigan and Dick Giordano (cover). See today's posts or more Newton or Batman issues. See also this blog's Newton checklist.
