Tarzan #216 - Joe Kubert art & cover

Joe Kubert
Tarzan of the Apes v1 #216, 1972 - A mission hospital is brutally attacked and razed to the ground, leading Tarzan to hunt down the perpetrators. In addition to the dense African jungle, an ancient buried city serves as the setting for this tale of murder and greed. Joe Kubert captures the massacre's ferocity on a double-page spread (pages 2-3). Later in the story, his images of ancient statuary and treasure enhance many of the pages. Kubert's mastery of layout and timing are a testament to his talent and experience. Other artists in this bronze age comic include Howard Chaykin. This is 10 of 44 Tarzan issues by Kubert.
