The Hawk #2 - Joe Kubert art

The Hawk v1 #2, 1952 - When a locomotive is attacked by indians, Hawk must gather the facts before townspeople take matters into their own hands. Joe Kubert's gritty style seems tailor made for the western genre. His opening panel of an apache attack sets the tone for the rest of the story. The characters are iconic and persuasive (see interior page below). This story was later reprinted in The Hawk #9. Other artists in this issue include Carmine Infantino, Vic Martin and George Oleson. This is number 1 of 1 The Hawk issues with Kubert art and/or covers (not including reprints). See today's posts or more Kubert or The Hawk issues. See also this blog's Kubert checklist.
