Avengers #120 - non-attributed Jim Starlin cover

Avengers v1 #120 marvel comic book cover art by Jim Starlin
Jim Starlin
Avengers v1 #120, 1974 - Busy and convoluted, Jim Starlin's cover crowds too many Avengers and members of Zodiac into one scene. The background grid adds visual texture but also contributes to the chaos. Also, Frank Giacoia's inks seem to suppress Starlin's pencils. On a positive note, the path of Thor's hammer nicely frames the character, creating the focal point. Other artists in this issue include Bob Brown and Don Heck. This is number 2 of 3 Avengers issues with Starlin art and/or covers. See today's posts or more Starlin or Avengers issues.
