Neal Adams |
Detective Comics v1 #402, 1970 - Man-Bat returns, desperate to find a cure for his condition. The eerie
Neal Adams cover suggests what occurs inside: the Man-Bat's grotesquely complete transformation. The story is proficiently drawn and laid out, employing vertical and horizontal panels to emphasize heights and landscapes respectively. Equally impressive are the sequences where the Batman attempts to capture Man-Bat from within the Batcave (pages 12-16). This story, marking the character's second appearance, was later reprinted in
Man-Bat v2 #1. Other artists in this bronze age comic include Gil Kane and Vince Colletta. This is 16 of 38
Detective Comics issues by
Adams.
