Neal Adams |
Detective Comics v1 #397, 1970 - A painting's theft leads Batman to a millionaire recluse, who pines for a lost love from his youth. There are vague references to the film
Citizen Kane, but only in passing.
Neal Adams does a capable job in capturing the rich man's delusional state. His depictions of the fortress-like mansion, with its cavernous interiors and contents, is simply superlative. Adams' ghostly cover is equally compelling. This story was later reprinted in
Limited Collectors' Edition #C-44. Other artists in this bronze age comic include Murphy Anderson and Gil Kane. This is 11 of 38
Detective Comics issues by
Adams.
