Where Monsters Dwell #18 - Jim Starlin cover, Jack Kirby reprint, mis-attributed Steve Ditko reprint

Jim Starlin
Where Monsters Dwell v1 #18, 1973 - On this monster-themed cover, Jim Starlin employs a quasi-circular path that moves from the human figure to creature and back again. The layout is basic and the distant planets fill in the negative space a little too obviously. Starlin also supplies a custom head shot beside the masthead. The issue also includes a Jack Kirby reprint from Strange Tales #91. No Steve Ditko reprints, despite what comic book guides say. This is number 1 of 2 Where Monsters Dwell issues with Starlin art and/or covers. See: today's posts / Where Monsters Dwell / Kirby / Ditko / Starlin / Top 10 Starlin

  1. I believe the cover inks are by Dave Cockrum.

    Nick Caputo

  2. I haven't found a source to verify the inker, but after closer inspection it could well be Cockrum. Anyone else care to guess?
