The Texan #15 - Matt Baker art & cover

Matt Baker golden age 1950s st. john western comic book cover art - Texan #15
Matt Baker
The Texan v1 #15, 1951 - Despite the title, it's odd that the last four covers primarily feature indians. Matt Baker's cover suggests a plot within an indian tribe, reflecting the theme of his interior story. The drawings are supple and streamlined, especially his opening panel of a horse theft in progress. In the same scene, a rifle, knife and bow are angled to converge, pointing to the thief in the distance. Other artists in this golden age western comic include Howard Larsen. This is 11 of 11 Texan issues by Baker. /// Baker gallery
