House of Mystery #190 - Neal Adams cover, Alex Toth art

Neal Adams
House of Mystery v1 #190, 1971 - Seeking a young lady's favor, a gentlemen accepts a dare to sleep overnight in a haunted house. The opening splash by Alex Toth has him surrounded by a bevy of ghosts and ghouls. The various shapes and faces come together in a superbly executed layout. On other pages, some panels are more detailed than others, but the visual storytelling is clear and unambiguous. Neal Adams' cover is weakly composed and minimally drawn. Other artists in this issue Ric Estrada and Frank Giacoia, This is number 16 of 26 House of Mystery issues with Adams art and/or covers and number 7 of 8 House of Mystery issues with Toth art and/or covers.
