Archie's Super Hero Comics Digest magazine #2 - Neal Adams, Wally Wood art, Jack Kirby reprints

Archie's Super Hero Comics Digest magazine v1 #2, 1979 - A one-shot issue, this humble digest contains both new (unused?) and reprinted material from the 1960s. Wally Wood illustrates a tale of a wizard's apprentice who conjures a demon to further his own ambitions. His skillful renditions stand out, despite the smaller format . The most surprising inclusion is a Black Hood story by Neal Adams (see interior page below). Exceptionally drawn, some scenes are jarring in their degree of rage and violence. His pacing is masterful, but somewhat hindered by the small reproduction. This story was later reprinted in Blue Ribbon Comics v3 #8. Reprints include two Jack Kirby Shield tales (Double Life of Private Strong #1 and #2). Wood's "The Ultimate Power" was later reprinted in Basically Strange #1. Other artists in this bronze age digest include Gray Morrow. This is 1 of 1 Archie's Superhero Comics Digest issues by Adams and 1 of 1 Archie's Superhero Comics Digest issues by Wood
