Double Life of Private Strong #1 - Jack Kirby art & cover

Jack Kirby
Double Life of Private Strong v1 #1, 1959 - Revising the first patriotic hero from the golden age, Archie Comics introduces the silver age Shield. Jack Kirby and Joe Simon produce a bevy of stories, ranging from the hero's origin to an invasion from outer space. While their cover is poorly designed, their interiors are comparable in quality to other works from the same period. Note the dynamic panel that opens the first tale (see interior page below). “Menace of the Micro-Men” would later be reprinted in Archie's Super Hero Comics Digest Magazine #2. This is number 1 of 2 Double Life of Private Strong issues with Kirby art and/or covers. See today's posts or more Kirby or Double Life of Private Strong issues.
