Detective Comics #514 - Don Newton art & cover

Detective Comics #514
Detective Comics v1 #514, 1982 - In pursuit of a murderous psychopath, the Batman encounters a peaceful hermit in the forest. Don Newton captures the remoteness of the wooded setting, as well as the violence of its intruders. Frank Chiaramonte's inks are a tad sloppy at times, but generally does an adequate job with contrast and definition. This story was later reprinted in Best of DC #35. Newton's cover, on the other hand, is largely unrecognizable. Other artists in this copper age comic include Jose Delbo and Joe Giella. This is 31 of 39 Detective Comics issues by Newton.
