Teen-age Romances #1 - Matt Baker art & cover

Matt Baker
Teen-age Romances v1 #1, 1949 - Consorting with local romeos gets Dotty fired from her job, which in turn infuriates her parents. Matt Baker captures the girl's innocence and confusion of relatively minor transgressions. The illustrations are simpler and more straightforward than his later romance works, but adequately do the job. This story was later reprinted in Diary Secrets #10. Baker's cover draws from a different story, but the crowded layout and slightly elongated faces hamper the overall aesthetics. This is number 1 of 42 Teen-age Romances issues with Baker art and/or covers. See today's posts or more Baker or Teen-age Romances issues. See also this blog's Matt Baker checklist.
