It enhances the overall design without sacrificing title recognition (the Marvel stamp on the upper left also helps). Jack Kirby gives us yet another iconic image of Cap, busting through a New York Times front page of the Pearl Harbor bombing. Inside, the hero's wartime recollections segues into the present with beautifully rendered transparency (see interior page below).
