Marvel Two-in-One #43 - John Byrne / Walt Simonson cover, John Byrne art

John Byrne / Walt Simonson
Marvel Two-in-One v1 #43, 1978 - Concluding the storyline begun in the previous issue, the Thing teams up with Captain America and the Man-Thing against a sinister cult. John Byrne's pencils are considerably watered down throughout the book, starting with Walt Simonson's sloppy cover inks. The story inks are equally disappointing, comprised of a mishmash of artists (Bruce Patterson? Dave Hunt?) with inconsistent styles. The first six pages are marginally better (see interior page below), perhaps partially inked by Byrne himself. This is number 1 of 5 Marvel Two-in-One issues with Byrne art and/or covers. See today's posts or more Byrne, Simonson or Marvel Two-In-One issues. See also this blog's Byrne checklist or Simonson checklist.
