Out of the Night #1 - Al Williamson art

Out of the Night v1 #1, 1952 - Under the pseudonym "Harold Williams", Al Williamson superbly illustrates a story about a century-old werewolf pelt. The artist's sensitive linework pervades throughout most of the pages, especially on the title panel. The opening scene has a dream-like quality that's strongly reminiscent of fine art etchings. It's lack of color seems intentional, perhaps separating it from the surrounding panels. Other artists in this issue include Charles Sultan, Paul Gattuso and Ken Bald. This is number 1 of 3 Out of the Night issues with Williamson art and/or covers. See today's posts or more Williamson or Out of the Night issues. See also this blog's Williamson checklist.
