77 Sunset Strip v2 #2 - Russ Manning art

77 Sunset Strip #2
77 Sunset Strip v2 #2, 1963 - In the only story not based in Los Angeles, detective Spencer travels to South America in search of a missing person. The foreign setting gives Russ Manning the chance to draw a different cultural environment. He does so admirably, capturing the houses, foliage and native dress with ease (see interior page below). Manning's other tale is more standard detective fare, but no less impressive in craftsmanship. Unexpectedly, the book also includes "The Line Up", a Kate King Reporter story within the same genre. Perhaps she was a minor character on the television series? As in previous issues, the contents page on the inside front cover re-uses some of the story panels. This is 6 of 6 77 Sunset Strip issues by Manning. /// Manning gallery
