Star Spangled War Stories v1 #141 featuring Enemy Ace, 1968 - When one of his own brutish pilots challenges him to a duel, Enemy Ace has no choice but to accept. This tale of a soldier run amok is deftly illustrated by
Joe Kubert. Among the many fine scenes, the full page splash of a mid-air collision (page 9) stands out due to its bold visuals. Adequately drawn, Kubert's cover benefits from the searing hot color palette. This story was later reprinted in
DC Special Blue Ribbon Digest #7. This is 41 of 96
Star Spangled War issues by
Kubert.

The cover reminds me of Kurtzman.
Really? I don't see it. Maybe because of the intense colo palette?
It comes across much stronger in the thumbnail version. Certainly the color palette, but also the exaggerated proportions of the figures, the dramatic tension of impending violence, and bold, thick brushstrokes in the inking.
Yes I saw Kurtzman in this immediately myself
