Weird Mystery Tales #9 - Nestor Redondo, Alex Nino art

Weird Mystery Tales #9, 1974 - In this period Nestor Redondo tale, an Englishman's obsession with chess leads to the murder of his competitor. Stylish and sophisticated, each panel is precisely detailed. Riding horses, clothing and architecture all benefit from his streamlined approach. By contrast, Alex Nino tells of a man grieving over his dead son, a purported warlock. His linework is harsh and sharply rendered, appropriate for the surreal nightmarish images required. Other artists in this issue include Jess Jodloman and Luis Domingez (cover). This is number 3 of 6 Weird Mystery Tales issues with Nino art and/or covers and number 1 of 2 Weird Mystery Tales issues with Redondo art and/or covers.
