Neal Adams |
House of Mystery v1 #182, 1969 - A little girl disappears into a decorative mirror while her playmate looks on in disbelief. This
Neal Adams cover is among his best of the genre, dark and enigmatic. The cover's story begins immediately inside with an eerie
Alex Toth title page. Cain, the series host, peers at the reader while lit by a large glowing doorway below. Toth incorporates the typography right into the illustration, adding surrounding textures to evoke mystery and mysticism. The remaining pages are simpler in nature, but adequately paced and designed. The artist's minimal style is evident on the interior page shown below (this story was later reprinted in
Limited Collectors' Edition #C-23). Other artists in this bronze age comic include Jerry Grandenetti. This is 8 of 26
