Alien Worlds #4 - non-attributed Al Williamson/Frank Frazetta/Angelo Torres art, non-attributed Jeff Jones art

Alien Worlds #4, 1983 - Jeff Jones contributes a story of a futuristic couple with irreconcilable differences. His drawings are deceptively minimal, but contain a surprising amount of emotional depth and sophistication. The issue's highlight is "Land of the Fhre", a beautifully drawn Al Williamson tale inked by Frank Frazetta and Angelo Torres. Intended for the 1950s series Buster Crabbe, it finally saw print in the fanzine Witzend #1, then Unknown Worlds of Science Fiction #1. In this first colored version, some finer details are less apparent than the original. Still, there's plenty of artistry to appreciate. Other artists in this issue include Bo Hampton, Ken Steacy and Dave Stevens (art & cover). The interior page shown above is by Williamson/Frazetta/Torres. This is number 2 of 3 Alien Worlds issues with Williamson art and/or covers, number 1 of 1 Alien Worlds issues with Frazetta art and/or covers, 1 of 1 Alien Worlds issues with Torres art and/or covers and number 1 of 1 Alien Worlds issues with Jones art and/or covers.
