Witching Hour v1 #2, 1969 - Nick Cardy drew the covers of many issues of this horror title, but it's his earliest that are noteworthy. Unencumbered by additional text and dialogue, the illustration of a young couple entering a horrific house speaks for itself. The composition and lighting are well thought out, including the unnerving worm's eye view. Some sources credit the issue's framing pages to Alex Toth. Compared to his works in Witching Hour #3 and #5, I doubt this is the case. Other artists in this silver age comic include Jack Sparling, Sid Greene and Jose Delbo.- - - - - - - - - -
