Jack Cole |
True Crime Comics v1 #2 (#1), 1947 - A drug dealer's moll decides to quit the racket, only to find it impossible to escape the consequences. "Murder, Morphine and Me" is well known for
Jack Cole's visceral depictions of violence and drug use. Enough in fact, to earn this
first issue a place in Frederick Wertham's treatise on juvenile delinquency:
Seduction of the Innocent. Despite the controversy, Cole's skill and artistry is clear on this story. Faces and figures distort along with the action, bringing a strong sense of movement to the pages. The layouts are thought through and meticulously planned. While not nearly as powerful, the artist's appealing cover stands on its own merits. ///
