New Romances #18 - Alex Toth art

New Romances #18
New Romances v1 #18, 1953 - Inheriting a fortune, young Pamela wades through a sea of prospective husbands looking for the one who isn't impressed by her wealth. Alex Toth's last work on the series is generally nicely paced and composed. Many panels are lushly detailed, especially the backgrounds, which in turn create more believable settings. Toth seems to pay special attention paid to character faces and expressions in this case. His opening panel is so-so, but I appreciate the dream-like image of admiring suitors knee-deep in cold hard cash (see interior page below). Other artists in this golden age comic include Vince Colletta. This is 6 of 8 New Romances issues by Toth.
