Detective Comics #493 - Don Newton art + 1st Swashbuckler

Detective Comics #493
Detective Comics v1 #493, 1980 - Hunting down the Riddler, the Batman gains an unlikely ally in the Swashbuckler, the nephew of the famed Vigilante. Don Newton and Dan Adkins again deliver superlative artwork worthy of the title's lead feature. At the story's beginning, a rain-drenched Batman on a rooftop sets an appropriately film noir mood. Note the purposeful lighting on the interior page below. This story was later reprinted in Tales of the Batman: Don Newton #1. Other artists in this copper age comic include Jose Delbo, Joe Giella, Vince Colletta, Steve Mitchell and Dick Giordano. Cover by Jim Aparo. Other characters featured include Robin, Red Tornado and Batgirl.
