300 v1 #5, 1998 - King Leonidas and his three hundred Spartans make their final assault against Xerxes' massive army, numbering in the thousands. As the series concludes, Frank Miller's artwork is a tad less bold, less visually compelling than his previous issues. There are a few inspired moments. The unusual view from inside the King's helmet, sequenced on pages 19-20 is innovative. Later, the two-page spread of the battle's aftermath is also gripping. The overall effort just falls short of bigger expectations. This is 5 of 5 300 issues by Miller.
