Wartime Romances v1 #9, 1952 - Competing for a work promotion, Helen undermines two other girls for the chance to attract her wealthy boss. Due to the short page count, Matt Baker squeezes his drawings into a finite number of panels. Add to that the generous dialogue, and his artwork becomes overwhelmed by the text. Oddly enough, this is among his shortest romance stories from the era. Baker's cover is far better, contrasting the woman's more fluid pose against the soldier's rigid stance. Other artists in this golden age comic include Ric Estrada.
