1994 #15 - Alex Nino art & cover

1994 #15
1994 magazine v1 #15, 1980 - A laid back detective in an unnamed galaxy takes on a case that killed his colleagues and predecessors. A stereotype of 1970s African-Americans, Spearchucker Spade is offensive even by today's standards. Artistically, Alex Nino meshes different styles together, but are not always harmonious. The level of distortion is also distracting. A second shorter tale, equal in detail and effort, fares better visually. Its hallucinatory feel is not dissimilar to his earlier works in this series. Nino also supplies the fantastical painted cover. Other artists in this bronze age magazine include Rudy Nebres. This is 5 of 17 1994 issues by Nino. /// Nino gallery
