Superman #1 |

Superman v1 #1, 1939 - Aside from a two page origin and a four page short, most of this
first issue reprints Superman tales from
Action Comics #1-4. The origin story is a slightly expanded version from the original one-pager in
Action #1. Despite that, this is a of the man of steel's first self-titled series. Running concurrently with
Action, this title only contains Superman stories. These Jerry Siegel stories were all drawn by
Joe Shuster, including the iconic cover. Unusually decorative, it nicely frames the hero while leading the eye towards the text on the bottom. This is Superman's first self-titled series. ///
