All-Star Comics #40 |
All-Star Comics v1 #40, 1948 - Addressing the problem of juvenile delinquency, the Justice Society comes to the aid of a young boy whose brother joins a local gang. Meanwhile their adult counterparts, the Crimson Claws, commit robberies with impunity. The story art is adequate, but
Alex Toth steps in to draw the last twelve pages. Although consistent in style with previous chapters, the artist's layouts are noticeably better. His use of angles and perspectives are fully engaging. The scene of a rescue attempt from an oncoming train is a high point, showing a natural talent for pacing. This story was later reprinted in
Justice League of America #110. Other artists in this golden age comic include Carmine Infantino. This is 3 of 4
