(Luke Cage) Hero for Hire v1 #1, 1972 - Sent to a maximum security prison for a crime he didn't commit, Lucas endures a corrupt warden and his abusive staff. Enticed with parole, he agrees to be a subject of a scientific experiment. The project goes awry, but gives him incredible strength and indestructibility. After literally busting out of prison, he adopts the name Luke Cage and becomes the world's first superhero for hire. His first task is to take down Copperhead, his childhood friend turned crime boss. This Archie Goodwin story was drawn by George Tuska and Billy Graham.
