Kull and the Barbarians v1 #1, 1975 - Bringing together some of the barbarian king's earliest stories, this first issue is not particularly special. Wally Wood's effort from Kull #1 fares worse in black and white than the original. The sole bright spot is a quartet of Neal Adams text illustrations for a Roy Thomas article. Sized to almost the full height of the magazine, the portraits of Red Sonja, Solomon Kane and Kull make the issue worth considering. Other artists in this issue includes Gil Kane and Ernie Chan.
