| True Crime Comics v2 #1 |

True Crime Comics v2 #1, 1949 - Costumed and masked, a mugger finds an effective way to rob and terrorize people. Alex Toth's art is detailed and substantial, previewing an approach that he would continue to develop over the years. The opening splash shows a penchant for composition, a trait he would later perfect. Wally Wood pencils two short stories, including one about punishment throughout history (see interior page below). Though uncredited, Wood appears to have inked many panels on a third story, titled "Big Time". I also believe this issue contains the artist's first professional comic book works, rather than Women Outlaws #4. Other artists in this issue include Jack Cole (reprinted from True Crime Comics #2), Jack Small and George Russo.
