Star Spangled War Stories v1 #147, 1970 - Joe Kubert's powerful cover gives a preview to his interiors. The Unknown Soldier's origin is revealed for the first time, starting with his enlistment. Two splashes accompany many large panels across nine pages. Kubert employs a silent sequence to great effect at the story's climax. This issue also includes part two of an Enemy Ace reprint from Showcase #57. Other artists in this bronze age comic include Russ Heath and Sam Glanzman.
