Walt Disney's Comics and Stories v1 #176, 1955 - To teach his nephews about history, Donald Duck drives them to an abandoned western ghost town. Skillfully drawn and sequenced, Carl Barks produces an outstanding short story. The old west seems faithfully captured in the various buildings, interiors, furniture and attire in the majority of panels. Barks parodies the western genre but clearly admires it. Details are plentiful and sumptuous. This story was later reprinted in
Walt Disney's Comics and Stories #394 and >
Donald Duck Adventures #12. Other artists in this issue include Paul Murry. This is 136 of 280
