John Byrne |
Alpha Flight v1 #24, 1985 - Descending into an ancient netherworld, Alpha Flight searches for the soul of Walter Langowski. Puck, Aurora, Snowbird and Talisman are joined by Shaman and Northstar. Almost double the number of pages as previous issues, there's no mention of its giant size status on
John Byrne's cover. Inside, the drawings and layouts maintain a high degree of effort, despite the long page count. Set in the ancient Realm of the Beasts, the story is depicted almost entirely in black and white. Byrne's glorious double page spread (pages 11-12) is reminiscent of his earliest days on the
X-men.
This is 24 of 30 Alpha Flight issues by
Byrne.
