Sin City: Hell and Back v1 #1, 1999 - A young woman jumps into the sea, only to be saved by a stranger. She's an aspiring actress, he's a struggling artist and their lives will never be the same again. Frank Miller opens with several silent pages before any narration or dialogue occurs. This heightens the drama from the onset of this first issue. His graphic style is recognizable at this point, but some pages are more effective than others.
