Alpha Flight v1 #18, 1985 - Imprisoned by the Master, Puck and the Sub-Mariner learn of Marinna's alien origins. John Byrne's cover is hurriedly designed, but his interior pages are terrific. Aided by Bob Wiacek's inks, the detailing of advanced machinery and amorphous creatures is breathtaking (see interior page below). The layouts are thoughtfully paced, leading to a big "reveal" toward the end of the book (page 17). Byrne's cover lacks the verve of his interiors. This is 16 of 30 Alpha Flight issues by Byrne.
