Alpha Flight v1 #12, 1984 - Only hinted at in the previous issue, Omega Flight makes their first full appearance. Alpha Flight unintentionally phases into into a battle with these mutants, aiding Guardian in the process. John Byrne continues to show a high level of skill in this double-sized special. His pacing and layouts are competent midway through the story, accelerating with a terrific two-page spread. He manages to fit the members of both teams into a single powerful panorama. Toward the story's end, Byrne custom designs panels resembling numerals, leading a countdown to the shocking climax.
