Wartime Romances #12 - Matt Baker art & cover

Wartime Romances #12 st. john 1950s golden age romance comic book cover by Matt Baker
Matt Baker
Wartime Romances v1 #12, 1952 - While visiting her sweetheart at an army base, Donna tries to grow up a little too fast by dating other available serviceman. Matt Baker's cover is dependably drawn, but his corresponding story is even better. From the large opening panel to the organically shaped captions, his illustrations are carefully crafted and detailed. His penchant for fine figure drawing permeates every page, especially the lead female character (see interior page below). Interestingly, this story's opening splash was used as the basis for the cover of Diary Secrets #16. Other artists in this golden age comic include Ben Brown and Dave Gantz. This is 12 of 18 Wartime Romances issues by Baker.
