Carl Barks and the Art of the Comic Book book, 1981 - Despite the title, the book focuses just as much on Carl Barks' writing as his artwork. His family history and personal biography and are recounted here for the first time. Interesting stories abound, from his early days at Disney Studios to his foray into the new comic book medium. Several key issues are referenced, spanning over the decades. While there are plenty of reprinted pages from Donald Duck and Uncle Scrooge, his early non-Disney work is equally fascinating. The interiors of this book are black and white across 230-plus pages, including a substantial comics checklist in the back.
