Joe Kubert |
Our Army at War v1 #151 featuring Sgt. Rock, 1965 - As part of a Native American custom, Sgt. Rock tries to keep an eagle feather lodged in his helmet for a full day while engaging the enemy.
Joe Kubert's usually frenetic scenes contrast with the more pastoral setting on page 2 (see interior page below).
Enemy Ace also makes his first appearance in a separate feature, showing WWI from the enemy's perspective. Despite this significance, Kubert's artwork is merely adequate, perhaps a tad less well drawn than usual. Written by Robert Kanigher, this story was later reprinted in
Star Spangled War #158,
DC Special #26 and
Enemy Ace Special #1. This issue also includes art by Morris Waldinger, Jack Abel, Ross Andru and Mike Esposito. This is 88 of 236
